Mission
We have the objetive of integrating Orthopaedic and Traumatology Associations and Colleges of Specialists in the Mexican Republic into a sole Institution, with the purpose of fostering unity, equity, and academic and moral excellence in the professional practice of its members with the intent of improving the quality of life of Mexican citizens.
Vision
A global referent due to its high quality and commitment towards scientific and professional academic training, providing continuing medical education of quality to all orthopaedist of Mexico.
OBJECTIVES
FEMECOT
To affiliate all existing Orthopedic and Traumatology Societies in the Mexican Republic and those that may be formed in the future into a single National Organization.
To foster the development and progress of each of the Societies and their members by coordinating their relationships.
To develop, extend, and improve the services of Orthopedics and Traumatology for the benefit of the people.
To promote research and scientific progress in the specialty.
To organize the formal education of Orthopedics and Traumatology.
To help protect the public from incompetent or unethical individuals.
To prepare, edit, and distribute publications and other information related to Orthopedics and Traumatology.
To promote all activities that contribute to the scientific, cultural, and ethical development of the specialty.
To strive to elevate the quality of each of the Societies of this Association and help increase their interests, rights, and privileges.
Gender equity in the professional practice of orthopedics.
HISTORY
AMOT - FEMECOT
The Mexican Federation of Orthopaedic and Traumatology Colleges A.C. (FEMECOT) was founded in 1967, under the name Mexican Association of Orthopaedic and Traumatology (A.M.O.T.).
In the year 1974, the A.M.O.T. and the Mexican Society of Orthopaedics (S.M.O.) established a parity agreement with the objective of forming the Mexican Board of Orthopaedic and Traumatology (C.M.O.T), organism in charge of certifying capability and quality of orthopaedist of the Mexican Republic.
Currently, FEMECOT is a referent in Orthopaedics in all Ibero-America and the world, driving the development of the Associations and Colleges that make it up through national, regional, and local events; with the goal of increasing knowledge and encouraging the continuous improvement of medical practice.
